Identity

These first two weeks of class we will discuss identity and how we become who we are. In "Live For Today", "Sonny's Blues" and "Girl" we will see a number of different characters and explore how they constructed their identity. Setting also plays a major role in these stories. We will look at how that effects these characters as well.

Below is the graffiti that inspired the title of "Live For Today." I believe it has since been erased and is no longer visible but you used to be able to see on the PATH train between Newark and Journal Square.
